Jellinbah, a coal operation in Queensland, Australia, has committed to the installation of Hexagon’s Collision Avoidance System (CAS) and Operator Alertness System (OAS) under a project managed by Haultrax, Haultrax says.
This project underscores Jellinbah’s ongoing dedication to ensuring employee safety and operational excellence, setting a new benchmark for the integration of operational technology in mining, the company added.
Hexagon’s OAS is a fatigue and distraction management solution. It uses machine learning to continuously and objectively monitor operator attentiveness, detecting signs of inattention or fatigue in real time. By alerting operators and supervisors, it prevents incidents before they happen, significantly reducing the risk of incidents caused by human error, the company says.
Meanwhile, Hexagon’s CAS, a flagship protective technology, provides 360-degree situational awareness to operators via a cabin display, Hexagon says. By enhancing operator visibility and awareness, CAS helps to safeguard both drivers and equipment, minimising the risk of collisions in high-traffic areas or during complex manoeuvres.
Haultrax said: “With safety as its core value, Jellinbah is committed to enhancing situational awareness and operator alertness on site by leveraging these advanced technologies. By partnering with Haultrax as the dedicated delivery partner, Jellinbah ensures a smooth and effective implementation of these new systems. Haultrax’s strong reputation in the global mining industry for successfully managing similar projects, combined with its deep understanding of the cultural and operational impacts of operational technology integration, will allow Jellinbah to maintain its focus on the well-being of its employee throughout the process.”
